Fun in the Sun

Yeah!!! Summer is finally here! The other day we decided to put a hose underneath the trampoline and invite some friends over. Hannah and Darius got up there and enjoyed splashing around and getting each other wet. It is nice because they can get wet by jumping but the black top keeps it rather warm. Darius is still a little unsure on the trampoline, but eventually got up and started jumping around. Here he and Hannah were chasing each other in circles. It's amazing how many times they can run in a circle without getting bored!!!
Darius eventually got a little cold and got off of the trampoline. This DID NOT sit well with Hannah. The instant he got down Hannah started throwing a fit. She was screaming and pouting. Of course, being the good mother and all, I took lots of pictures. I then took a video of the episode. Here she is still throwing a fit about Darius leaving the trampoline! Even though the big kids loved jumping on the trampoline, Rheya was a little timid to jump and get wet. She was perfectly content to swing for hours.
Of course Elayna had to get out in the sun and swing herself. We grabbed her little fish swing and brought it outside. She doesn't ever seem to last too long when she is the swing and soon fell fast asleep.
Let's just hope the weather holds and the kids can keep getting out and playing in the water.

Graduation

Hannah graduated from the Small World 2-3 year old class on Wednesday. They always put on such a cute performance. One problem this year is that Hannah was often moved up to the 3 year old class. Because of this she learned all the songs for their performance and didn't know the song to her classes performance. She shortly improvised and started dancing half way through the program. It was very entertaining. Here she is with her little diploma and her graduation cap. She gets to keep her tassel, but has to give the cap back.
After the program, they give everyone a small treat. Here she is with her popsicle. For wearing Sunday best, it is amazing that they give popsicles out as treats to the toddlers. Oh well, clothing can be washed and the kids love it.
All-in-all it was a cute performance. HOWEVER, as I was sitting there watching the whole school "big" performance, I thought that it would be a miracle if one of the little kids didn't flash the audience. Within seconds of thinking this, Hannah lifted up her dress and showed everyone her yellow underwear. Once the teacher noticed and pulled it back down, Hannah quickly pulled the top of her dress down and again flashed the audience. I was laughing so hard I was crying. All the while I was saying..."whose child is that anyway?". It had to be mine didn't it.

Appointments!!!!

Now that Hannah is three, we had to take her in for some appointments. First, her 3 year check up went very well. The doctor was extremely impressed with her vocabulary and how she can string sentences together and have quite an intellectual conversation...for a 3 year old that is. In the past year she has gained a whole ONE pound and four inches. She is still cruising along the 90th percentile for both height and weight.

Once we were finished with the doctor, it was off to our first dentist appointment. We took her to the same dentist Ed has been going to since he was a kid himself. Here she is tilting back into the chair. At this point she seemed to enjoy it. She was nervous when she put the scraping tool into her mouth. By the time she got to the flourinde, she was getting rather anxious. Here she is getting her flouride treatment (via a mouth piece) with the suction tool in between it.
The tech was very nice and let Hannah hold all of the tools (with the hopes to ease her nervousness). She even let her rinse her own mouth with the water gun.Once we told her she was all finished, she was able to crack a "clean teeth" smile.
She received two stickers, a purple crocodile flosser, a blue toothbrush, and a small toy for being such a big girl. She is growing up so fast (have I said that before???).

Hannah's Third Birthday

WOW how the years seem to fly by. I remember when little H was a newborn. It doesn't seem like that long ago. Look at me, I am acting like she is turning 18 or something. Here she is only three. Actually I never thought Hannah was a very big child...that is until we brought Elayna home. Now that I have two girls, it really puts into perspective how big Hannah is actually getting.

This past weekend (May 16th) we threw a small birthday party for Hannah. Of course everything had to be all about Dora. I think I am going to go crazy with all the Dora clothing, games, toys, videos and coloring books. Oh well, it isn't my birthday and she is truly in love with Dora right now. She loved everything she got. Here is her cute Dora, Diego, and Boots birthday cake. She was very excited when she saw it. Here we are getting ready to pass out the birthday cake. I called it a small birthday party, but there were 22 friends and family that came. We finished all but four slices of the cake. I asked Hannah what piece she wanted and she managed to find a small yellow flower near the middle of the cake that she HAD to have!!! That will be the last time I ask her that question! Here are the four little ones eating cake and ice cream. Ironically the two big kids only slightly ate the cake and ice cream. The two little ones literally licked their plates clean. For her big birthday gift, we decided that it was time to get her a trampoline. We had several family members pitch in for the gift. With the 400lb weight limit, it truly entertained the kids (and many of the adults) throughout the party. All we had to watch out for is the kids bouncing each other off. Here is Hannah dangling off the side. It is such an adorable picture of her trying to get down. Every day when she comes home from daycare we have to go jump on the trampoline.
By the end of the day all the kids were tired. Hannah fell asleep within minutes of coming inside. I am sure the other three also passed out instantly. It takes a lot of energy to bounce on the trampoline for three hours almost nonstop.
Although little Elayna did no jumping, being out in the sun and fresh air also wore her out. Here she is lounging peacefully in GRR's arms.
All-in-all it was an exciting day. I want to thank all of the friends and family who made it a very special day for our not-so-little Hannah.

Mother's Day

Today was a wonderful day! This is my first of many mother's day with two beautiful children...although Elayna decided to sleep the day away. We ended up getting a bunch of cute pictures of Hannah, but sadly none of the sleeping Elayna. Hannah ended up getting me a jewelry box (I guess Ed was tired of helping me untangle my necklaces). Elayna got me a diamond girl pendant to go along with the emerald one Hannah got me last year. Now my necklace has two little girls on it to represent my little angels. My girls sure picked out wonderful gifts. (Thanks Ed)

After lunch, we took Hannah to Tautphaus Park. Here she is attempting to cross the movable bridge. She does fairly well, that is until it starts moving. This toy would make most people sick. As someone stands on it, another person spins it. I wasn't sure who was going to fall off first, Hannah or Ed.After the park, we walked across the parking lot and took Hannah to the little kids rides. Here she is a train engineer. We had to ride this twice. The first time she had to sit in a train car while a little boy was the "head engineer". If you know Hannah, you probably know how well this didn't sit with her!
Here she is being the pilot. She didn't seem to like it after it went around more than five times. Apparently she has developed her dad's tolerence for fast spinning things.
Lastly we rode the merry-go-round. I was allowed to ride for free since it is Mothers Day. I have never really noticed the expressions on the horses before, but this white stallion really looks creepy.

Alex's Graduation

Yesterday Alex graduated from ISU...YEAH!!! It was quite a nice BBQ. It is always enjoyable to get together with family and friends. As I went to get a picture of Sarah and Alex, Ed managed to sneek into the picture. Not sure how I missed that! Here John gets his first opportunity to hold little Elayna....are you jealous Melissa! We are going to get Hannah a trampoline for her birthday. It was nice that Alex had one for her to practice on. She did fairly well. We were still nervous when she jumped within a foot of the edge, but hopefully we will learn to trust her once she has her own. After she finished rolling around, her hair was standing on end. The camera doesn't show just how bad it was, but you can still see some of the messy red hair.

Love

Shortly after coming home, I decided to pose the two girls together. They truly are the most adorable girls. Hannah has developed the role of "big sister" nicely. She loves to help change diapers, cover Elayna, and of course shower her with kisses. These are my two favorite pictures. The first Hannah and Elayna are holding hands. The second is the two girls laying on the couch. Since the time Hannah was little she would love to sleep with her hands under her head. It appears that Elayna also has developed that habit. They are just like their father on this one. I never understood the arm under the head way of sleeping. My arm always falls asleep.
Lastly, shortly after Elayna's belly button fell off, we started tummy time. She can turn her head from side to side and slowly lift it up. She wears out after about two minutes, but she is getting there.
